Switch points of view in a playful manner

I heard this tip from somewhere and I wanted to bring it to my readers. There was no other detail, so I spent a bunch of time trying to envision what it would look like.   It reminds me of the debating rules, where you have to be able to debate either side. But this idea is to do it in a playful manner, not as a serious debate. 

I imagine you would start by telling the person you read about it and ask their permission and willingness to try this new thing.

It must be cool to hear someone feed back to you what you say in a lighthearted way. I imagine it might be good to role play it first to be able to do it successfully. You might offer to start first, so you can model how to do it.
