How to deal with someone who hurt you emotionally
Sometimes people say hurtful stuff. They do. Sometimes they mean it, sometimes they don’t.
How can you deal with it? It depends on how safe they are. If they are safe, then you can confront the person. If they aren’t, then you shouldn’t.
Another point is that you need to do what you can to heal yourself. It doesn’t matter whether the other person apologizes. You can do that healing by developing a statement that helps you calm down and feel better about yourself. You might need help in developing a statement, so use your support system. Then repeat that statement to yourself when you are upset.
My personal statement that I use is one I developed many years ago, thanks to Louise Hay. It is “I love and approve of myself exactly as I am.” I find myself still using it, when I am in a bad place and it still helps.
I’ve written an article, which was published by Upjourney, on the topic of how to deal with being hurt by other people, which includes the above tips as as well as tips from many other people. Look for mine near the end.
